The Ted Kennedy Award

To honor the legacy of the late Sen. Edward Kennedy, the College Board’s National Commission on Writing has created an award in his name that recognizes writing that has greatly influenced national as well as world history. The first recipient of this award is Theodore "Ted" Sorensen, former special counsel and adviser to President John F. Kennedy and a widely published author on the presidency and foreign affairs. The award was presented to Sorensen by Bob Kerrey, chair of the commission and president of The New School, at the 2009 College Board Forum in New York City.
