Higher Education
Every effort has been made to ensure that the revisions to AP® courses and exams align with the college courses that parallel AP courses. College faculty have been intimately involved with this project by serving on the AP committees responsible for the curriculum revisions, and by participating in surveys and curriculum studies intended to verify that the revised learning objectives align with those in higher education. Finally, the AP course and exam revision process relies on groups of nationally renowned subject-matter experts in each discipline, including professionals in secondary and postsecondary education as well as from professional organizations. This consortium of experts
serves to ensure that material reflects the most up-to-date information available, that it is presented with the rigor befitting a college-level course, and that proficiency of that material is assessed properly.
As a result, higher education stakeholders can be assured that the rigor of AP curricula and exams is commensurate with college-level courses. Of particular interest to those in higher education:
- The revised course curricula are available on the subject-specific pages. This documentation details the organization of the course content and articulates the knowledge and skills that will be assessed on the AP Exam.
- Visit the timeline to learn when additional course and exam information will be available.
- The AP Program is in the process of revising the exams for AP World History, AP German Language and Culture and AP French Language and Culture. During the next two years, as these courses are developed and finalized, the AP Program will provide additional details about the proposed changes to the exams. Available information about the planned changes to the exams is available on the subject-specific pages.
