Students and Parents
As changes to AP® French Language and Culture, AP German Language and Culture, and AP World History will not be introduced until the 2011–12 school year, no action is required of students or parents at this time. For questions that are more individual than those addressed on this site, you may contact your district, school or AP teacher. If you or your child plans to take one of the courses undergoing changes, you can be assured that:
- The current AP courses offer rich, college-level learning experiences designed to prepare students for college success and result in advanced credit and placement.
- The revisions in these courses are aligned with the comparable college-level courses and will provide students the strongest opportunity to gain college credit when they perform successfully on the AP Exams.
- The AP Program is announcing these changes in advance to provide teachers with sufficient opportunities to smoothly and easily incorporate changes into their course syllabi. We are working with teachers to provide the most effective resources, including instructional materials, sample exam questions and professional development, to ensure students a level of instruction that will best prepare them for the corresponding AP Exam and keep them on track for success in college.
